CIRCLEVILLE, OH - As the Fall season hits full swing, the Trailblazer Tennis program has its eyes set on building on last year's growth as they enter their second season of NAIA competition. Competing in eight total events in the Fall, OCU will save the bulk of their schedule for the Spring season.
On September 22-23, the Trailblazers had the unique opportunity to compete at the Lindner Center in Mason, OH against other quality tennis programs including Shawnee State University, the University of Saint Francis, and Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The Lindner Family Tennis Center, famous for hosting the Western and Southern Open, was also a highlight of the weekend, being able to play on the same courts as the professionals in a distinguished tennis venue. The weekend would not go the Trailblazers way on the courts, but the experience gained over the two days will be invaluable moving forward.
After returning home, OCU headed off to Lancaster, OH to face Ohio University Lancaster on Sunday. The men would win their match by the score of 7-2 while the women would take their first win in program history, winning 6-1. Highlights on the men's side would include Sammy Diggs/Colin Dorman and Damon Foster/RJ Hayes winning their doubles matches, as well as Dorman and Hayes winning their singles matches. On the women's side, Drayah Johnston/Kaylee Dickson would take their doubles match to help lead the team to victory. Both teams will now prepare for a matchup with Miami-Hamilton later this afternoon.
