RICHMOND, IN - After a disappointing performance against Mount Vernon Nazarene last week on the road, the Trailblazers entered the weekend looking for a key conference victory over first year soccer program Indiana University East. Entering Saturday, the Red Wolves stood at 5-3-1 in their first year as the Trailblazers hoped to get their first win within the 2017 RSC schedule.

Despite a fairly quiet match, the biggest moment of the day would come in the seventh minute of the game. As the Trailblazers attacked the goal, the Red Wolves would be given a foul. The penalty would take place within the box, leading to a penalty kick for the Trailblazers. OCU's Colin Dorman would get the nod for the kick, and he would convert the opportunity to take the 1-0 lead.

Dorman's goal in the seventh minute would be the deciding factor of the game, as neither team would find the back of the net from then on, leading to the 1-0 victory for the Trailblazers. OCU would hold the Red Wolves to only three shots on goal, as Goalkeeper Roberto Varela would keep IU East scoreless with three saves. The game would become chippy late, as four yellow cards and one red card would be given out.

"The guys played hard today and we did a good job defensively," said Head Coach Josh Murton. "We need to get better at taking chances at the goal and finishing them, but this is a good way to start off conference play with a win." Next up, the Trailblazers will face #3 ranked Rio Grande on Thursday evening.
