CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The Ohio Christian University Lady Trailblazers hosted a River States Quad Match on Saturday afternoon that included Indiana University East, Indiana University Southeast, and Brescia University. OCU would face both IU Southeast and Brescia, while IU East would be the other home team for the day, keeping them from facing the Lady Trailblazers.
In the first game of the day, the Lady Trailblazers would struggle to gain ground on the quick moving Grenadiers of IU Southeast. The game would be decided in the first three sets, as the Grenadiers would sweep the game thanks to strong setting and attacking. IU Southeast would finish with 36 assists on 44 kills, while the Lady Trailblazers would finish with 23 and 26 respectively. Individually, Lexi Jacobs would lead the way for the Lady Trailblazers as she would finish with seven kills, a serving ace, and a block assist.
In the day's second game, OCU would go to battle against the Bearcats of Brescia. Despite seeing Brescia take the first two sets, the Lady Trailblazers would battle back to win the third set. The Bearcats would rebound, however, as a decisive fourth set would give Brescia their second win of the day to finish undefeated. For OCU, Karee Neff would lead the way with 13 total kills and 17 digs.
"Today we played two tough opponents that we knew would challenge us," said Head Coach Danielle Heffernan. "I thought our blocking and our defense kept us in a lot of long rallies, we just need to keep working on closing out sets and matches."
