CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Visiting Shawnee State was stunned on Tuesday night after a 5-4 loss at the hands of host, Ohio Christian University. The Trailblazers scored off of a corner kick in the final 10 minutes to pull out a hard fought victory over their NAIA opponent.
The thired and final goal by Danner, which gave the Trailblazers a 4-3 lead, proved to be a crucial one. Danner broke free only to have the Shawnee State keeper deflect the ball. Danner was relentless as she chased down the ball and blasted it into the net for the score, breaking the 3-3 tie.
Moments later, Shawnee State would answer with a goal of their own to even the score up at 4-4.
With only minutes remaining, OCU pushed the pace and was able to attack Shawnee State. The attack yileded a corner kick for the Blazers and Katelyn Danner was able to place a nice ball in front of the net. The ball bounced off of two players before falling in for a goal to give Ohio Christian the 5-4 lead.
The Blazers would clear the ball in the closing minutes as they held on for a memorable 5-4 victory.
