CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The Lady Trailblazers jumped out to a nine point second half lead against NAIA affiliate, Asbury University, on Saturday afternoon, but it would not be enough. A late comeback by Asbury proved to be the difference as OCU was edged out 66-54 in the final day of the 2013 Think Pink Classic.
Led by freshman sensation, Maddie Joseph, the Trailblazers went into halftime with a 33-32 lead. Joseph finished the game going 5 for 10 from three point range for a game-high 17 points.
With less than twelve minutes remaining in the game, a three pointer by Joseph and a field goal by Abbey Fox gave OCU a nine point advantage as they led by a score of 45-36. Asbury then reeled off a 14-2 run, capped off by an Ellie Steiner three pointer, to take a 50-47 lead with 6:03 remaining.
Ohio Christian responded with a field goal and a free throw by Shekinah Alexander at the 5:20 mark to put the Blazers back in front, 52-50. That is the last time the Lady Blazers would lead as Asbury finished the game with a 16-2 run over the final 4:51 to put the game away.
The Trailblazers (1-2) are back in action on Friday when the travel to Chicago, Illinois to compete in the Moody Bible Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
