CHICAGO, IL - The Lady Trailblazers went 1-1 over the weekend at the Moody Bible Institue Tournament in downtown Chicago. On Friday night, the Blazers beat Central Christian College of the Bible for the 2nd time in one week. OCU defeat Central at home last Friday in the Think Pink Classic.
OCU was once again in control the entire night against Central. Asia Woodson led the way with 17 points and Martiza Will added 14 points as Ohio Christian came away with the 87-64 win. Sarah Sunde made her season debut with 11 points and 6 boards.
On Saturday, the Blazers took on longtime rival, Kentucky Christian University in the tournament final. KCU jumped out to a 33-24 lead in the first half behind the hot hand of Tanya Bowens. Sarah Bechtel answered back by going 4 of 5 from three point baskets for the Trailblazers. KCU extended their lead in the second half, going on for the 76-59 win.
Maritza Will was strong on the inside for OCU as she tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Asia Woodson added a team high 14 points in the loss. Tanya Bowens led KCU with a game high 27 points.
OCU is back in action on Tuesday night as they travel to Cincinnati Christian University for a 7:30 PM contest.
