KISSIMMEE, FL - Ohio Christian led 1-0 in the closing moments of regulation on Thursday afternoon, but Clearwater found a way to force overtime. A costly OCU penalty in the box gave Clearwater a penalty kick with a minute remaining in regulation. Clearwater converted the penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1 and force the first of two overtime periods.
After regulation and a pair of overtimes, the match finished in a 1-1 tie, forcing a shootout to determine which team would advance. The shootout went to eight kicks, with Clearwater edging out the Trailblazers to advance to the 5th place game.
OCU will now be playing for 7th place when they play in their final game on Saturday at 10:00 AM.
