CIRCLEVILLE, OH - OCU Baseball picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday, defeating OSU-Mansfield by a score of 14-2. The win snaps an 8 game losing streak for the Trailblazers (1-8).
Mike Miller led OCU on the mound and was stellar in his first home start of the season on the friendly grounds of Olson Field. Miller tossed 7 innings while allowing no runs and only two hits. The hurler struck out 9 OSU-Mansfield batters on his way to the win.
The OCU offense enjoyed their strongest showing at the plate so far in the young season as they tallied a total of 18 hits and 14 runs. The Trailblazers scored in each of the first three innings to take command early and lead 8-0 heading into the 4th. Nine different OCU batters connected on hits during the game and seven different players had at least on RBI.
Trevor Whitesed led OCU with 3 hits on the day while knocking in 2 RBI's. Brian Daria tallied two hits and had a game-high 3 RBI's. Jayson Perkins led the Trailblazers with 3 runs scored while going 2 for 4 with a walk and a stolen base.
OCU is back in action on Friday when they travel to Muskingum for a 2:00 PM start. Muskingum is an NCAA Division III affiliate.
