MARION, IN - The OCU Trailblazers were tripped up at NAIA affiliate, Indiana Wesleyan University on Monday afternoon, falling in a pair of games by scores of 6-2 and 12-0.
Ohio Christian had an impressive effort in game one, playing close with the host Wildcats through the first three innings. After IWU took a 2-0 lead, the Trailblazers put together two-run rally in the top of the 3rd inning to tie the score at 2-2.
Taylor Shiray got the rally started by spraying a single to right-center field. McKenzie Epling then connected on a double to center to plate Shiray and get OCU on the board. Trailing 2-1, Mackenna Jennings stepped up to the plate and delivered the second double of the inning to score Epling to even the score at 2-2.
The Wildcats would answer back with two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take a 4-2 lead. After OCU was unable to score, Indiana Wesleyan added a run in the 4th and 5th to come away with the 6-2 victory.
Freshman pitcher, Taylor Moore, had another strong outing for the Trailblazers. Moore threw six innings, allowing only 2 earned runs while striking out 5 Indiana Wesleyan batters.
Indiana Wesleyan ran away with the finale, winning 12-0 as the OCU defense struggled with 7 fielding errors. Rachel Briggs had the lone hit for OCU.
