CIRCLEVILLE, OH - After falling behind in the early going against the University of Cincinnati-Clermont, the OCU Trailblazers found themselves trailing 2-0 after three innings of play.  OCU pitcher Richie French (JR/Waverly, OH) settled in on the mound and shut down the Clermont bats over the next 5 innings, opening the door for an OCU rally.

The Trailblazers found themselves trailing 2-0 heading into the top of the 4th inning.  After holding Clermont scoreless in the top of the inning, the Trailblazers used a walk and a base hit to plate their first run of the game to trail 2-1.

Led by French on the mound, the OCU defense kept Clermont scoreless over the next 3 innings.  Trailing by a score of 2-1 and heading into the bottom of the 7th, the Blazers needed a run to force extra innings.  Ohio Christian responded in a big way, once again getting on base and scoring a run to even things up at 2-2 thanks to a sacrifice bunt.

After both teams were scoreless in the 8th inning, Clermont once again regained the lead in the top of the 9th.  A base hit to right field gave Clermont the 3-2 lead.  Once again with their backs against the wall, the Blazers responded in the clutch.  After loading the bases, Danarius Williams (SO/Cincinnati, OH) drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game at 3-3.  Clermont was able to escape the OCU rally as the Blazers left a couple of runners on base.

After a scoreless 10th inning, both teams would head into the top of the 11th inning knotted up at 3-3.  Clermont once again responded by taking the lead with a run in the top of the inning to take a 4-3 lead.  OCU ended the Clermont rally and headed into the bottom of the 11th hoping to once again get a rally of their own.  The Trailblazers were unable to comeback for a third time.  OCU did not score in the bottom of the 11th as Clermont went on for the 4-3 win.

The OCU offense was led by Shawn Stallworth (FR/Cincinnati, OH) who connected on 3 base hits on the night with a run scored.  Caleb Penney (FR/Columbus, OH) enjoyed a solid game with a pair of base hits.  Trevor Whitesed (JR/Tarlton, OH) had one hit and one run for the Blazers.  Danarius Williams had a walk and two RBI.  Kris Carius added a pair of hits before being replaced with a pinch runner.

Richie French and Zach Williams (SO/Brooksville, KY) were strong on the mound for the Blazers, combining for 8 strikeouts in 11 innings of work.  The duo scattered 8 hits while allowing two earned runs.

OCU(1-18) is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Clark State Community College for a 3:00 PM start.
