CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The OCU Trailblazers came up short to Wright State Lake on Saturday afternoon, losing 6-5 and 5-1 at the first annual World Missions Baseball Classic.  The event was a success as it raised $1,000 for OCU missions trips.

The Trailblazers found themsleves down 6-0 heading into the bottom of the 4th.  That is when the OCU offense exploded for 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning and 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th.

Kris Carius (SO/Columbus, OH) provided a big spark with a two run double to the right field gap that scored Brian Daria (SO/Villa Hills, KY) and Trevor Whitesed (JR/Tarlton, OH).  Carius also added a bunt down the third baseline that was thrown away, leading to two more OCU runs.  Carius then took advantage of a wild pitch and slid under the tag at home plate to score an additional run.  With the Blazers trailing 6-5 after five innings, the OCU offense was unable to put together a rally in the final two innings as Wright State Lake escaped with a 6-5 win.

Mike Miller (JR/Columbus, OH), Caleb Penney (FR/Columbus, OH), Trevor Whitesed, and David Wright (SO/Piqua, OH) each connected on base hits in game one for the OCU offense.  Tyler Jones (JR/Tampa, FL) pitched 7 innings, striking out 4 batters and allowing 4 earned runs.  Jones shutout Wright State in the final 3 innings of play to put the Blazers in a position to win.

Wright State pulled out the finale with a 5-1 win.  OCU trailed 2-1 heading into the final inning where WSUL rallied for a trio of wins to put the game away.
