PORTSMOUTH, OH - The Trailblazers (2-27) were swept in a pair of games at Shawnee State University (31-20) on Monday evening.  The Trailblazers traveled a split squad to play Shawnee State, who is currently second in the NAIA Mid-south Conference, even so they stayed close in the opener falling 5-1 to the Bears.

Shawnee opened up the game with a 5-0 lead after the first three innings of play.  OCU then answered back in the 4th inning with their lone run of the day.  Brian Daria (SO/Villa Hills, KY) opened the 4th inning by reaching on base after an errant throw.  Trevor Whitesed (JR/Tarlton, OH) then reached base on an Infield single and after a second wild throw, scoring Daria to make the score 5-1.

Chris McIlroy (JR/Circleville, OH) settled in on the mound after the first three innings of play and went on to shutout Shawnee in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings.  The Trailblazers offense threatened Shawnee again in the 6th inning as Jayson Perkins (SO/Westerville, OH) and Mike Miller (JR/Columbus, OH) connected on base hit singles.  Trevor Whitesed was hit by a pitch and the Trailblazers found themselves with the bases loaded with two outs.  Shawnee closed the door on the rally with a strikeout to end the inning.

Shawnee State went on for the 5-1 victory in game one.  The Trailblazers struggled in game two, falling to the Bears by a score of 14-0 as Shawnee State flexed their muscles blasting four homeruns and securing the sweep.
