CIRCLEVILLE, OH - OCU Softball won a thrilling game on Wednesday evening, knocking off Franklin College, by a score of 2-1.  Franklin College came into the game with a 17-15 record as an NCAA affiliate.  

The Trailblazers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning as Natalee Rogerson (SO/Bellaire, OH) started the inning with a base hit single.  After Taylor Moore (FR/Hilliard, OH) drew a walk, Courtney Teague (SO/Piqua, OH) came through with a sac fly to center field to score Rogerson as the Trailblazers scored the first run of the game.

Franklin College answered back in the 4th inning as Struewing tripled to start off the inning.  Franklin then evened things up with a ground out that scored Struwing to tie the game at 1-1.

Ohio Christian responded with a big fifth inning that proved to be the difference in the game.  Taylor Shiray (JR/Cleveland, OH) singled to get the inning started for the Blazers.  McKenzie Epling (JR/Lawrenceburg, IN) then came through as she blasted a double to the gap, scoring Shiray and giving Ohio Christian a 2-1 lead.

MacKenna Jennings finished off Franklin on the mound, retiring the last 6 batters for the complete game win.  Jennings threw 7 innings and struck out 3 batters as she scattered 5 hits and only allowed 1 run.

The Trailblazers take the field again on Friday as they host the University of Northwestern Ohio beginning at 3:00 PM.
