BEVERLY, OH - Coach Matt Futch is pleased to announce Shawntell Parsons as the latest addition to the OCU women's basketball program. Parsons signed her letter of intent this past week during a signing ceremony at Fort Frye High School alongside her friends and family. Parsons comes to Ohio Christian University following an historic senior season at Fort Frye under the direction of head coach Dan Liedtke.
Coach Liedtke and Parsons helped lead the Cadets to a 25-4 record this past season as Fort Frye had their best season in school history. The Cadets defeated Johnstown-Monroe 58-43 to to win the Region and advance to the State Final Four in Columbus, Ohio. Fort Frye was edged out by three points to the eventual state champion to cap off their historic run.
Parsons is a defensive specialist that brings great athleticism and outside shooting to the Trailblazer roster. She comes to OCU after receiving both All-Ohio Valley Athletic Conference honors and All-District recognition following her senior season.
"Shawntell is a skilled player that comes from a winning tradition at Fort Frye," states head coach Matt Futch. "Her commitment to defense and her competitive spririt will add a lot of value to our practices and preparation for the upcoming season."
Parsons joines on OCU basketball program that has reached five straight NCCAA National Tournaments. The Trailblazers hope to make it six in a row this season as they pursue their first NCCAA National Championship.
