CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Stephanie Jones has resigned as the head coach of the OCU softball program.  Coach Jones made the announcement to the team and school officials in May after the close of the season.

Coach Jones ultimately came to the decision to spend more time with her family, teaching career, and youth ministry. "I have truly enjoyed getting to know each and every one of my players as an athlete and as a person," states Jones.  "Each of you has touched my life in a special way."

Stephanie came to the Trailblazers in 2012 and was the head coach during both the 2013 and 2014 seasons.  Coach Jones led OCU to a historic 2013 season as the Blazers went 10-10 overall.  During that season she led OCU to their first NCCAA Division I postseason victory as OCU defeated Tennessee Temple 7-3 in the Mid-East Region opener.

"Stephanie has been an enthusiastic, high-energy coach for us the past two years," states Ben Belleman, director of athletics.  "It has been a blessing to have her on our staff and see her grow the softball program to where it is today."

OCU will now begin a national search process for a new head coach.  With a strong roster, a growing campus, exciting academic programs, and new facilities, it is expected that there will be a lot of interest in the position.
