CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Deshay Thomas has signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Ohio Christian University. The Reynoldsburg guard helped lead the Lady Raiders to a 5th straight District title this year and a 23-5 record to finish a strong prep career at RHS. While playing at Reynoldsburg, Thomas played under the leadership of head coach Jack Purtell.
Thomas, known for being a force on defense, hit the game winning shot at the buzzer to lead Reynoldsburg to the district championship over Hilliard Bradley this past March. "Deshay is a tireless defender," stated Coach Purtell. "She really committed to improve her off hand this past year and it made her a complete player. We like her a lot and she will do well at the next level."
Coach Matt Futch believes that Thomas has what it takes to be an impact player for OCU as a freshman. "Deshay is a point guard that has a great combination of athleticism and basketball IQ. The first game I saw her play was against Kelcie Mitchell(Ohio State), the top player in the country. We like that she is a defensive specialist and comes from a winning tradition at Reynoldsburg. She solidifies an incoming class for us that will strengthen our team culture."
Thomas joins an OCU program that reached the NCCAA National Tournament during the 2013-14 season. The reloaded Trailblazers are setting their sites on bringing home their very first Regional and National Championships during the 2014-15 season.
