CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Coach Dick Walters is excited to announce the recent commitments of Faith Layman and Ian Monaghan to OCU track and field. The pair comes to Ohio Christian University after remarkable senior seasons at Liberty Union High School. Layman and Monaghan have known each other since kingergarten and decided to attend OCU together this Fall.
Faith Layman is a gifted athlete that excels in both the long jump and hurdles. With a personal record in the long jump of 15'5-3/4", she made her mark in the Mid-State Leage. She went on to take 2nd place in the long jump in the MSL She advanced to the district meet where she went on to finish 7th in the long jump. Layman also performed well in the hurdles, finishing 4th in the MSL in both the 100m and 300m events.
Ian Monaghan is known for his amazing jumping ability. With a personal record in the high jump of 6'3" and a personal record of 38'7-1/2" in the triple jump, he became a state qualifier in both events as s senior. At the state indoor tournament, he finished in the top ten as he cleared the bar at 6'2" As a senior, Monaghan finished as the district runner-up in the high jump in both the indoor and outdoor meets.
Coach Walters is looking forward to working with Layman and Monaghan over the next four years. "Faith and Ian will make a big difference for us next year as we look to continue to strengthen our program. They immediately impact our ability to compete at a high level and win events. We anticipate great things from each of them over the next four years at OCU."
