CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Coach Eric Hamner has been busy this off season with seven signings for his 2016-2017 campaign. His first signing was on October 20, 2015. Ohio Christian University signs New Jersey state qualifying sprinter, Zarria Williams, from Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill, NJ. Zarria has posted official times as fast as 12.72 in the 100m dash, 26.11 in the 200m dash, and 1:02.11 in the 400m dash and has run even faster in her relay splits. Zarria will be competing for the rapidly improving trailblazer sprint squad while majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology.  Head track coach, Eric Hamner, says the Zarria will make an immediate impact on our team and will help take the women's track program to new heights with her work ethic and determination." Zarria still has her senior track season ahead of her where she hopes to further her success.
 
November 10, 2015- The OCU trailblazers track team sign top tier recruit, Rachel Lawwell, from Watkins Memorial High School in Pataskala, OH.  The speedy Lawwell qualified to the Ohio State Track Championships  in the 4x200m relay twice indoors and once outdoors ;She was also on the state qualifying 4x400 indoors in 2015. She posted times as fast as 12.59 in the 100m dash, 25.9 in the 200m dash, and 1:00.12 in the 400m dash. She also ran the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 for the Warriors.  Rachel will study Criminal Justice and Psychology at Ohio Christian. "Rachel brings more than just speed to the Women's sprint squad at OCU; she brings leadership, aggressiveness, and championship experience. Rachel will make an immediate impact on our team and will help lead the sprint squad to another level of competitiveness," states head track coach, Eric Hamner. Rachel still has her senior track season ahead of her and has hopes of making a return trip to Jesse Owens Stadium with her teammates. 
 
November 23, 2015- Aly Turrentine from Elida, OH commits to being an OCU track and XC trailblazer. Aly consistently ran in the low 20 minute range for Elida High School which qualified her for the OHSAA regional XC meet in 2015 where she placed 44th. The young runner's best time was 20:03 and hopes to greatly improve upon that in her tenure at Ohio Christian University. "Aly will enter OCU being one of our best runners and she will really provide a lot more depth to our team. She has front running potential and that is something we are lacking at this time. We are really looking forward to what she will bring to our distance running squad in the fall and spring," says head track coach, Eric Hamner. Aly has also run 5:38 in the 1600m run and 12:21 in the 3200m run, with her senior campaign left unfinished until later this spring. Turrentine plans to major in Business and Sports Management. 
 
Vinton County distance runner and sprinter/hurdler, Lynaya Collins, signed her scholarship with Ohio Christian University on November 25, 2015. "Collins should come in and add immediate depth to level of talent at OCU during the fall XC season. She has great potential and she will fit into our team culture wonderfully," states OCU head track coach Eric Hamner.  She has posted a 5k best of 20:55 in High school as well as some competitive hurdle times as a junior. The senior still has one more high school track season to go where she plans to improve her personal bests. Collins plans to major in early Childhood education with attending OCU. 
  
November 24, 2015- Local Distance runner Hayden Mink, from Westfall High school signs on with the quickly improving men's track and XC team at Ohio Christian. The Senior in High school has run consistently in the low 17's and broken 17 minutes (16:49) for a 5k race just once. Mink is yet to run a track season at Westfall but plans to in 2016. "Mink has a ton of potential and he is running these times without the benefit of training during the spring as well. Once he starts doing that and running year round during college, the sky is the limit for this young man. He should make our varsity team as a freshman and I am sure he will develop into a great runner while here at OCU. I cannot wait to see what his future holds," says OCU head track Coach Eric Hamner.  Mink is currently undecided in his major but is leaning towards a business degree. 
 
December 3, 2015- Eastwood High School (Pemberville, OH) standout, Samuel Church, signs track and XC scholarship at Ohio Christian University. The Northwest Ohio runner logged personal bests of 16:49 for 5k and 10:49 for the 3200m run.  Samuel was also a regional qualifier in XC this fall and on a 4x800m relay team that placed 3rd at the State track meet in 2015. He has his senior track season still ahead of him to improve upon his goals and times.  Samuel Church is interested in Business and pre-law as majors while attending OCU. He also boasts a 4.0 GPA and is the President of the National Honor Society at Eastwood High School. "We are blessed to be getting such as great young man and athlete. Samuel Church is a dedicated, disciplined young man and that shows on the track and in the classroom. He will make an immediate impact on our team culture and varsity track and XC teams.  He adds to the depth of talent for the distance harriers that have their sights on some pretty high goals next season," says OCU head coach Eric Hamner.
 
December 3, 2015- Jonathon Gardner makes the commitment to run track and XC for the Trailblazers at Ohio Christian University. The Amanda Clearcreek senior plans to major in education while attending OCU.  "Gardner has run sub 17 multiple times for 5k on some really legit courses; his work ethic and passion for the sport are undeniable. He will make an immediate impact on our varsity team and has great potential for development. I cannot wait to see what this kid can do in the future," says head coach Eric Hamner.  Gardners best 5k is a 16:53 and 10:55 for the 3200m run thus far and he hopes to run a lot more personal bests during his senior track campaign.
