CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The men's basketball program played host to Mount Vernon on Thursday night. The Trailblazers would take their second loss of the season as the Cougars defeated OCU 77-73. This would move Ohio Christian to 10-2 on the season overall. Ohio Christian would go into the half trailing Mount Vernon 38-34. MVNU and OCU would split 39 points a piece in the second half, but this would not be enough for Ohio Christian, taking their second loss of the season to the Cougars.
Marquis Jackson (JR/Cleveland, OH) again led the Trailblazers with 28 points and 6 rebounds. Senior Evin Bartlett (SR/Huber Heights, OH) scored 11 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds. Nic Baker (JR/Hilliard, OH) would drop 11 points and 2 rebounds. As a team, OCU finished 26-70 from field goal range, 6-27 from 3 point range, and 15-21 from the free throw line. Mount Vernon was led by Joey Schmitz with 18 points off the bench. Josh Ashwill had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars. As a team, MVNU finished 26-53 from field goal range, 6-19 from 3 point range, and 19-26 from the free throw line.
"We didn't have the focus we needed to win tonight," said Coach Stockman, "We played hard and I am really proud of how we fought back in the end of the game to give us a chance to win. We just aren't making the shots and playing smart, which really effects our defense."
The men's basketball program will take a Christmas break and return to the court on December 29th when they travel to Indiana Institute of Technology.
