CIRCLEVILLE, OH – In a galaxy far far away… it was Star Wars night at the Maxwell Center as the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers hosted the Mountaineers of Berea College. It was a close matchup throughout the game, with neither team taking a huge lead in the first half. It was Berea College who would take the lead in the latter part of the second half. And with 18 seconds to go, the Mountaineers would be up by 3 with things look grim for the Trailblazers. Marquis Jackson (JR/Cleveland, OH) had different plans however as he would go to hit a 3-point bomb at the buzzer to send the game into overtime! The Trailblazers would take complete control in the final minutes to pull out the victory with a final score of 70-60.

"I was not happy with our defense," said Head Coach Tony Stockman, "Marquis made a great shot and gave us a chance to win the game. I thought we responded and played great defense in overtime, and we executed our offense. Its always good to win close games. Hopefully it helps us as we get back into conference play."

Marquis Jackson would come in big for the Trailblazers tonight putting up 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Gary Hoover (JR/Columbus, OH) would also have a big night putting up 10 points, and grabbing an impressive 15 rebounds. The Trailblazers collectively shot 25-69 from the field, shooting 7-31 from beyond the arc, and 13-17 from the charity stripe.

The Mountaineers were offensively led by Corey Wise (20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals) and Richard Parker (15 points, 4 rebounds). Berea College shot 29.7% from the field, shooting 25% from three, and 58.6% from the free throw line.

Congratulations to Luke Diamond for winning the best Star Wars costume contest, and congratulations to Tyler Forney for draining a half-court shot to win Belleman's Bomb for Books.

The Trailblazers will be back on the hardwood on Saturday, January 23rd as they host the Cougars of Indiana University Kokomo.
