CIRCLEVILLE, OH – It was Lights Out night hosted by the SGA this Tuesday and the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers would host the Pioneers of Point Park University. Both teams would battle fiercely until the final horn sounded, but it would be the Trailblazers in the end that would claim the victory with a final score of 83-74. This bumps the Trailblazers to 15-6 overall for the season with a 5-2 record in conference play.

 

"We settled for way too many 3s early in the game and we struggled to guard the ball screen," said OCU Head Coach Tony Stockman, "Our defense and rebounding really helped us stay in the game. We made some adjustments, and kept the defense and rebounding up and was able to pull away at the end. I was very happy with our effort tonight and our team play."

 

Gary Hoover (JR/Columbus, OH) would have an exceptional night putting up 14 points, and grabbing a very impressive 17 rebounds. Marquis Jackson (JR/Cleveland, OH) would also have a quality game putting up 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Trailblazers shot 30-71 (42.3%) from the field. Shooting 13-38 from beyond the arc, and 10-12 from the charity stripe.

 

The Pioneers would see offensive contributions from Kelvin Goodwin (31 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists), and Sa'iid Allen (15 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist). The Pioneers shot 44.8% from the field.

 

The Trailblazers will be back in action on Thursday, January 28th as they take on the Red Wolves of Indiana University East.
