FINDLAY, OH - The men's and women's indoor track and field teams traveled to Findlay, Ohio to compete. OCU's Ian Monaghan (SO/Baltimore, OH) qualifies to NCCAA nationals in the High Jump and nearly breaks his own school record. Brian Chandler (JR/Westerville, OH) debuts in the 600m dash with a school record performance after just missing the national standard in the 60m dash and the 200m dash. Kyle Benecke (FR/Lewis Center, OH)(6th) and Dylan Newton (SO/Williamsport, OH) (10th) excelled in the indoor 5k amidst some very good competition.
Female Distance runner Kara Bandy runs a very tough 5k on her way back from injury. Faith Layman is nipping at the heels of the NCCAA national qualifying standard in the Women's 60m dash with her explosive start.
"Both squads are competing on some very tired legs as training has been increasingly intense," said Coach Hamner, "This weekend was about strength and perseverance under the pressure of a higher level of competition than in recent weeks. Some athletes found out that there is a lot of work that still needs done and some prevailed showing that training is paying off and that great things can happen under pressure, even when you are tired."
