PITTSBURG, PA – The Trailblazers hit the road this Saturday as they traveled to Pennsylvania to take on the Celtics of Carlow University. Ohio Christian would come out strong early in the game to hold a 39-23 lead by the end of the half. Carlow University would make a run in the second half to bring it close, but in the end it would be Trailblazers of Ohio Christian claiming the victory with a final score of 77-65. This bumps the Trailblazers to 19-6 for the season with a 9-3 record in conference play.
"We started the game playing good defense and sharing the ball well on offense," said OCU Head Coach Tony Stockman, "We were able to get up big in the game. They were able to put together a comeback, but our guys focused in and made the plays needed to win the game."
Nic Baker (JR/Hilliard, OH) would be an offensive powerhouse for the Trailblazers putting 19 points. 18 of which came from beyond the arc. Evin Bartlett (SR/Huber Heights, OH) would have a very solid game as well as he scored 12 points and grabbed an impressive 13 rebounds. OCU would collectively shoot 24-72 (33.3%), shooting 13-39 (33.3%) from beyond the arc and 16-32 (50%) from the charity stripe.
The Celtics were led by Austin Matta (14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) and Isaac Fulwood (13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists). Carlow University shot 40.6% from the field.
The Trailblazers will be back in action on February 12th as they return to the Maxwell Center to take on the Grenadiers of Indiana University Southeast.
