PIPPA PASSES, KY – The Men's basketball program at Ohio Christian University hit the road this Saturday as they traveled to Kentucky to take on the Eagles of Alice Lloyd University. The Eagles would come out ready to play in the first half, and by the halftime they were leading the game 31-24. The Trailblazers would put together a comeback in the 2nd half and with 10 minutes left to go, Ohio Christian took the lead following a 3 pointer knocked down by Marquis Jackson (JR/Cleveland, OH). It was a close game from then on all the way down to the buzzer, but thanks to some clutch free throws by the Trailblazers, they would pull out the victory. The final score was 65-60 in favor of OCU.
"This was a very big game for us today, and I was interested to see how our players would respond," said OCU Head Coach Tony Stockman, "They stepped up and played with purpose and a lot of energy. We were able to get stops at the end of the games, and we made the big plays. To win big games on the road you have to be able to get stops."
Marquis Jackson would offensively lead the Trailblazers as he scored 19 points, 15 of which came from downtown. "Mr. 1000" Evin Bartlett (SR/Huber Heights, OH) would go out and have a solid game putting up 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Trailblazers collectively shot 31.2% from the field, shooting 9-30 from beyond the arc and 8-9 from the charity stripe.
The Trailblazers end with a final record of 21-9 overall with a 10-5 record in conference play. Congratulations to the OCU Trailblazers on another excellent season.
