INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Trailblazers baseball program began their 2016 campaign at Indiana Wesleyan University, Saturday afternoon. Game one of the season wouldn't go as Coach Blevins anticipated, as OCU lost game one to IWU 15-1. The results would be similar for OCU in game two, but a much better performance as IWU took game two 5-1.

In game one, Logan Webb (SO/Whitehall, OH ) pitched 3 innings on 8 hits, 9 runs, and 7 strikeouts. Brown Lewis (JR/Owensboro, KY) came in with relief, as he pitched 2 innings on 3 hits, 4 runs, and 1 strikeout. Nolan Knox (FR/Ashville, OH) closed out the game with his 1 inning pitched with 2 runs off 2 hits. From the batters box, the Trailblazers were led by Caleb Penney (JR/Worthington, OH), who was 2-3 in game one. Ethan Skowronski (SO/Cincinnati, OH ) scored the lone run from a Michael Anderson (FR/Piqua, OH) RBI. As a team, the Trailblazers were held to 3 spot in the hit column.

"They blitzed us," says Coach Mike Blevins, "Our first time out, they hit at a different level. Any mistakes our pitchers made, turned into doubles and home runs."

In game two, Isaiah Haley (SO/Cincinnati, OH ) pitched 5 solid innings with 4 earned runs off of 5 hits and 5 k's. Danarius Williams (SR/Cincinnati, OH ) was in relief, as he pitched 1 inning with 1 earned run off of 1 hit and 2 k's. Again, OCU was held to 3 hits as a team, with 2 being produced from Ethan Skowronski, as he went 2-3 with a run and RBI in game 2. Brian Daria (SR/Villa Hills, KY) had a hit of his own as he went 1-3.

"Our defense made the plays we could, but their line-up was fantastic" stated Coach Blevins, "Rich has his team headed in the right direction at IWU."
