CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The Trailblazers baseball program hosted Johnson University Royals in a three game set on Friday and Saturday at Ohio Christian University. Friday afternoon would switch to double header action, with the Trailblazers taking a quick two from the Royals with an 11-0 and 9-2 win. In a very windy Saturday, OCU would complete the sweep on a 6-4 win. 


In game one, OCU would quickly go to work as the Trailblazers would score four runs in the second inning. With an 2 RBI double for Caleb Penney (JR/Worthington, OH) and RBI single for Jordan Dicks (JR/Jefferson, PA), OCU would lead 4-0 in the second. With an Ethan Skowronski (SO/Cincinnati, OH ) triple in the 3rd, OCU would tack on 2 more runs, placing the lead to 6. Eric McClure (SO/Baltimore, OH) would add a run on a RBI double in the 4th inning, giving OCU the 7-0 lead. The Trailblazers would add their last 4 runs in the 5th, with 2 runs coming from a Brian Daria (SR/Villa Hills, KY) double. OCU would hold tight to their 11-0 lead until the end of the game, giving Kris Carius (JR/Columbus, OH) the win on the mound. 


In game two, it would be the same story, with OCU coming out putting a quick 3 runs on the board in the 1st inning after 6 hits. In the second and third innings, OCU would add 2, placing the Trailblazer lead to 5, going into the 5th. OCU would place a big 4 runs on the board in the bottom of the 5th, off 6 hits and 1 error, putting the score at 9-0. Tyler France would earn a win, with 1 earned run given up on 6 innings pitched. 


In the last game of the series on Saturday, the two teams would compete in a 9 inning match up. With the wind brewing in from right field, the Trailblazers would offensively slow down, with 8 hits in the 6-4 win in the final game of the series. Unlike the previous two games, Johnson would jump on the board first with a run in the second inning, but OCU would answer with 4 runs of their own. Johnson would fight back with a run in the 5th and 6th, putting the score to 3-4 going into the bottom of the 6th. OCU would give themselves breathing room, scoring a run in the bottom half of the 6th. In the 7th, both teams would score a run in their respective offensive half innings, putting the score to 6-4. Johnson and Ohio Christian would would hold the fort defensively, finalizing the score at 6-4, giving the Trailblazers a sweep in the three game series.
