ATHENS, OH – The OCU Trailblazers Track and Field team traveled to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio to compete in the All-Ohio Track and Field championships for the first time in the school's history. All D1, D2, and NAIA schools were invited to compete against one another. Although adverse weather conditions would affect all athletes who competed, the Trailblazers would still have a good outing in their first appearance at this meet.
Jared Hostetler (FR/Shelby, OH) competed in the hammer throw setting a new PR and hitting the NCCAA national standard which makes him the 6th athlete this year to qualify for Ohio Christian. Jared would also compete in the Discus throw and miss the national standard by only a few meters. Sidney Pell also competed in the hammer throw for the women setting a new PR and placing 13th overall. Cierra Herring (14th place) and Jasmine Junkins (18th place) also competed in the hammer throw. Dylan Newton (SO/Williamsport, OH) competed in the 5000m run for the men setting a new PR with a time of 16:29 (21 seconds less than his previous PR). Erinn Bailey would compete in the 100m dash placing 8th overall and snagging a point for OCU at the meet. Brian Chandler (JR/Westerville, OH) continues to perform well as he placed 7th overall in the men's 200m dash. Ian Monaghan (SO/Baltimore, OH) also placed 5th overall in the men's long jump.
The Ohio Christian University track and field program will hit the road next Friday, April 15th to compete at Centre College.
