GROVE CITY, OH - After facing the #2 team in the NAIA Coaches' Poll on Thursday afternoon, the Trailblazers soccer team had little time to rest up for a matchup against the #16 ranked Golden Bears from West Virginia Tech on Homecoming weekend. Despite the difficult opponent and little rest, the team came out and put up one of their best efforts of the season, allowing the Golden Bears to only score two goals the entire game, both of which came by the way of penalty kicks. The offense had trouble getting movement going on West Virginia Tech's side of the field, but definitely showed signs of improvement moving forward. The Golden Bears would go on to win 2-0.
"This was our best performance of the year. We played a full 90 minutes and because of that we held the #16 team in the nation to no goals in the run of play. The penalty kicks were unfortunate but we can definitely look at this game as what we are capable of and build off of that," said Head Coach Josh Murton. The team will now await a matchup with Carlow University this upcoming Thursday.
