GROVE CITY, OH - The Lady Trailblazers entered the RSC Semi-Final on Wednesday well rested after a ten day layoff, but also came in with some question marks due to injury. Freshman Brooke Wilhite, who was a key part of OCU's regular season title, was one of the players the team was hoping could continue her great play despite battling a knee injury. Just as the team has proved time and time again this season, the Lady Trailblazers put all of that aside and played their game as they battled the #5 seed Cincinnati Christian University. The Eagles would manage to hold OCU in check for most of the first half until Freshman Britt Piorkowski charged the net, getting a ball just past the goalkeeper to take a 1-0 lead into the half. After the break, the Lady Trailblazers' offense came out firing, as RSC Player of the Year Lexi Paas placed a perfect shot into the net to make the score 2-0 at the fifty-nine minute mark. Paas would then turn around and find Brooke Wilhite a minute later for an assist, as Wilhite would push the score to 3-0 on another beautiful goal. OCU would hold on from then on out with the help of their suffocating defense to take the victory and move on to the title game on Saturday.
"I thought we did a nice job of performing today after having ten days off. We couldn't be more excited about playing for a conference championship this Saturday," said Head Coach Jake Warren. Last night, the Pioneers of Point Park knocked off Asbury in the other semi-final game to punch their ticket to the championship as well. The Lady Trailblazers did defeat the Pioneers in the regular season 2-1, but all of that goes out the window now as the teams will take the field one last time this season to crown the conference champion. The game will be played at Grove City Christian School at 7:00 PM this Saturday. The game will be streamed through the RSC site, and that link can be found here.
