UPLAND, IN - On Wednesday afternoon, the Trailblazers hit the road for another early season non-conference battle, traveling to Taylor University to take on the Trojans. The game was expected to be a difficult matchup, as both teams have seen each other a lot in the years past. The Trojans would come out hot, getting to a quick ten point lead four minutes into the game. That lead would quickly grow, as Taylor took at 42-29 lead into the break despite leading by 23 at one point. In the second half, the Trailblazers would attempt to make their run, but the tough defense shown by the Trojans kept OCU from gaining too much ground. Taylor would hold on, taking the win by the score of 85-64. The loss now puts OCU at 4-3 for the season with a tough matchup against the NAIA #1 preseason favorite in St. Francis this upcoming Friday. Marquis Jackson once again led OCU in scoring, getting 14 points and three assists. Austin Marciniak finished with a good game as well, scoring nine points, going 3-5 from 3-PT.
"Taylor is a very good team," said Head Coach Tony Stockman. "They play hard and together. There were times in the game where we matched their intensity but we could not keep it up the whole game. We need to keep working and get better moving forward." As stated above, the Trailblazers will return home to face St. Francis this Friday at 8:00 PM. The team will also play Huntington University at 3:00 PM on Saturday.
