CIRCLEVILLE, OH - In a season of highs and lows, the Lady Trailblazers' basketball team has managed to stick together and put together a historical season. Coming into Saturday's regular season finale, OCU was fresh off a week of rest and ready to fine tune their game before heading into the RSC Tournament set to begin next week. On senior day, the Red Wolves from IU East came to town, a team that is no stranger to success within the league. Coming in with a record of 24-5, the Red Wolves stood in first place in the East Division with the Lady Trailblazers right behind.

Despite expectations of a close matchup, IU East used a large second quarter to take full control of the game. At the half, OCU trailed by 16 points as they looked for answers. The second half would prove to be a much different story, as a strong third and fourth quarter would bring the Lady Trailblazers all the way back within one possession. The game would come down to OCU's final possession, as Paige Lewis (SR/Mechanicsburg, OH) brought the ball up the floor trailing by two with 11 seconds remaining. Lewis would drive and get a quality shot off, but the ball failed to find the bottom of the net, bouncing out and forcing a Lady Trailblazer foul. The Red Wolves would take care of business at the line and go on to win 76-71. Shawntell Parsons (SR/Belpre, OH) would lead the team in scoring with 16, while Erinn Bailey (SR/Dayton, OH) put together a double double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

"It was great to be able to celebrate our group of seniors today," said Head Coach Jamey Batten. "They have done so much to impact our program. That was a really good IU East team that we faced today, and giving them a 17 point lead early really put us in a tough spot. We were able to rally in the second half, which should build our confidence and show us what we are capable of headed into the tournament."

The Lady Trailblazers, by clinching the second seed in the East Division, will now look ahead to Wednesday when they will host the RSC West #3 seed IU Southeast. The tip time for that matchup has been set for 7:00 PM EST. To follow the action, follow us on Twitter (@OCUtrailblazers) and Facebook (Ohio Christian University Trailblazers).
