CHILLICOTHE, OH - On Tuesday afternoon, the OCU Trailblazers hosted the Bears from the University of Pikeville for a double-header. The games were hosted by OCU at the VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, OH, the site of the 2017 River States Conference Conference Tournament. Game One would be a difficult matchup for the Trailblazers, as they were set to face the Bears ace Aaron Hedgecock. Hedgecock would pitch five innings, giving up only five hits while striking out four. For OCU, Michael Anderson (SO/Piqua, OH) would take the hill for the start. Anderson would pitch six innings, allowing six earned runs while striking out one. The Bears would go on to win 9-1.

In Game Two, the Trailblazers came out ready to play, quickly getting in the scoring column with an RBI by Ethan Skowronski (JR/Cincinnati, OH ). Branden Focarett (FR/Pickerington, OH) would take the mound for OCU in the second game, going 5 1/3 innings while allowing two earned runs on only one hit. After Pikeville took the lead in the sixth inning off a sac fly from Jay Vincent, the Trailblazers bounced back, scoring a run in the bottom half of the inning to knot the score at 2-2. The Bears offense could not be held in check in the seventh inning, however, as Pikeville would add on the deciding run, winning Game Two by the score of 3-2. Heading into the weekend, OCU now stands at 5-18 with a four game matchup against conference rival Brescia up next.
