PIKEKVILLE, KY - After getting rained out on Monday, the Lady Trailblazers were ready to roll and get back in action after a two week break following their trip to South Carolina. On Wednesday, OCU traveled to take on the Lady Bears from the University of Pikeville. In Game One, Lexi Williams (SR/Swanton, OH) would get the start. Williams would pitch well, going six innings while allowing six hits. Unfortunately, the Lady Bears would manage three runs while OCU struggled on offense, leading to the 3-0 loss.
In Game Two, OCU would put up a fight against the Lady Bears. Whitney Fiedler (FR/Brookville, OH) would take the mound the Lady Trailblazers, pitching seven innings while giving up only two runs. Fiedler would allow six hits while striking out three. Offensively, Caroline Rice (JR/Thaxton, VA) provided some power, blasting a home run to left in the fourth inning to tie the game at one a piece. The home run would eventually force extra innings, where the Lady Bears took advantage of their opportunities to score the winning run, making the final score 2-1. The Lady Trailblazers now stand at 2-8 and will look ahead to hosting both the University of Rio Grande and West Virginia Tech this weekend for their home opener.
