OWENSBORO, KY - The Trailblazers baseball program hit the road on Wednesday as they prepared for a four-game set against the Bearcats from Brescia University. Originally scheduled for the weekend, the games were moved up due to the threat of inclement weather. The matchup would start out with a thriller in Game One. After giving up four runs to the Bearcats in the first three innings, the Trailblazers would come storming back in the fourth and six innings, tying the game at four a piece. The game would then be forced into extra innings, where a Brescia error would allow Zach Mason (JR/Columbus, OH) to score the deciding run, leading to the 5-4 victory. Leading the Trailblazers to victory would be standout pitcher Logan Webb (JR/Whitehall, OH ), who threw eight innings while allowing three earned runs on five hits, striking out six.

The next three games would prove to be challenging for OCU, as the Trailblazers would drop the three remaining games. In Game Two, OCU would jump out to a quick three run lead in the top of the first highlighted by an Eric Rinehart (JR/Waverly, OH) double. The Bearcats would respond however, tying the game in the first and then exploding in the fifth for six runs. The final score would be in favor of Brescia 16-5. Games Three and Four would belong to the Bearcats, as OCU struggled to produce runs to match Brescia's offensive efficiency. Following the weekend, the Trailblazers now stand at 6-21, 3-9 in River States Conference play. Next up will be a head to head matchup on the road with Miami University-Hamilton on Thursday.
