CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Despite a season full of adversity, the Lady Trailblazers have proven over and over again that they are far from giving in to the pressure. After getting their first River States Conference victory of the season over the weekend, OCU was ready to keep the momentum rolling headed into a doubleheader against Kentucky Christian University on Tuesday afternoon. The story of the day would be the Lady Trailblazers' pitching, as Whitney Fiedler (FR/Brookville, OH) and Lexi Williams (SR/Swanton, OH) would only allow 12 hits, one walk, and one run. On offense, the team would push across four runs in Game One and three runs in Game Two to take the sweep. Catcher Aubrey Geis (SR/Delta, OH) would lead the Trailblazers on offense, getting two hits and sending one deep for a two-run homerun.
The wins put the Lady Trailblazers at 6-24 with a quick turnaround against Shawnee State this afternoon. "I feel as though we were finally able to put all three aspects of our game together tonight and come up with two big wins over a KCU team that beat us badly in the Fall," said Head Coach David Polly. "Our pitchers threw exceptionally well keeping hitters off balance, our defense played great making big plays at crucial times, and our offense produced runners to keep pressure on the defense in crucial times. I'm very proud of our girls as we keep battling and improving each time we go out and try to learn something in each game we play."
