CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The Ohio Christian University Trailblazers took on the Blue Devils from Lawrence Tech on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference double header in what would be an up and down day for OCU. In Game One, the teams would show strong pitching through the first few innings, as the Blue Devils would hold a slim 2-0 lead at the end of the 4th inning. Lawrence Tech would eventually break through, however, scoring 12 runs in the final three innings to take the win 14-0. Jordan Girdler (FR/Cincinnati, OH) would pitch 4.1 innings for the Trailblazers, giving up four earned runs on four hits while striking out two.

Game Two would prove to be a fresh start for OCU, as ace Logan Webb (JR/Whitehall, OH ) pitched another strong performance, going six innings while giving up two earned runs on five hits. He would also strike out three batters. Lawrence Tech would take a lead in the second and fifth innings, but the Trailblazers would respond both times. In the bottom of the fourth, OCU would tie the game at one by way of a bases loaded walk. In the bottom half of the fifth, the Trailblazers would once again knot the score at 2-2 on a sacrifice bunt from Isaiah Haley (JR/Cincinnati, OH ), scoring Hayden Hufford (FR/Washington Court House) who doubled earlier in the inning. The Blue Devils could not be held down, however, as a run in the top of the seventh would prove to be the difference maker, leading to the 3-2 victory. OCU now stands at 7-35-1 with a conference doubleheader against Cincinnati Christian scheduled for tomorrow.

Wednesday afternoon was also OCU's own Baseball Classic. 106 people attended the event sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings. Katherine Lawless won the wing eating contest for a scholarship. The event was run by the OCU Sport Management department. The event management class was responsible for marketing the game and for planning all of the activities including scheduling OCU's very own Dr. Larry Olson to announce.
