CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The Ohio Christian University Track and Field program is thrilled to announce their 2017 Fall Recruiting Class. Led by Head Coach Eric Hamner, the team will add over 20 athletes to the roster as they look forward to the Cross Country season beginning in less than a month. Below is a short bio of each athlete that has signed with the program along with a photo gallery of the signings.
Raven Arellano- A transfer from Grace College that has run 18:10 in the 5k and 37:13 in the 10k. Arellano is a 2-time NAIA National Qualifier. Raven ran for Dublin Scioto HS in Ohio previously and she will be majoring in Education.
Corbett Catlett- A thrower from Eastern Reedsville High School in Ohio with PR's of 41-1 in the shot put and 136-8 in the discus. He will be majoring in Business.
Aaron Curtis- A first year long jumper from Newark, NJ that has long jumped 21 ft and triple jumped nearly 38 ft and has run 11.9 in the 100. Aaron was an MVP on his track team and placed 3rd in the long jump at the Eastern State Championships. He will be majoring in Psychology.
Noah Davis- A distance runner from Fairfield Christian Academy in Lancaster, OH with PR's of 4:41 in the 1600 and 10:33 in the 3200. Noah will be majoring in Sports Management with a concentration in coaching. Davis was a team MVP and 2-time All-District in track/XC.
LeAndre Farris- A hurdler coming to us from Salem, VA with a PR of 42.3 in the 300H and was All-State in the 4x100m relay. LeAndre will be majoring in Business.
Solomon Hayes- A thrower from Tree of Life Christian School in Ohio with a Discus toss of 133-9 and a shot put of 42-9. Solomon was conference field event MVP and served on the student-athlete leadership team. He will be majoring in Accounting and Childhood Education.
Daneen Hazelwood- A sprinter from Reynoldsburg, OH with a 100mH time of 16.5 and a 300mH time of 48.2 seconds. She also runs the runs the 200 in 28.0 and the 100 in 13.5. Daneen was a scholar-athlete and a leader on her team. She will major in Ministry with a focus on Missions.
Mylie Lafountaine- A hurdler and sprinter from South Kitsap HS in Port Orchard, WA that boasts a 100mH time of 15.9 and a 300mH time of 46.3 seconds. Mylie was a conference champion and State qualifier in the hurdle events. She will be majoring in Worship Leadership and Psychology.
Caleb Matos- A middle distance runner from Sparta Highland HS in Ohio with a PR of 2:03 in the open 800. He will major in Business at Ohio Christian.
Serenity McCardle- A sprinter from Cincinnati Christian School in Ohio that runs an incredible curve in the district champion and 2-time All-State 4x100 relay. She will major in Early Childhood Education.
Rebekah McCarty- A hurdler and distance runner from West Union HS (18.1 100mH, 52.2 300mH, and 23:00 5k) in Ohio. Rebekah was team captain and was a member of the National Honor Society. She will be majoring in Early Childhood Education.
McKenzie Ray- A distance runner from Zane Trace HS in Ohio with PR's of 12:25 in the 3200 and 20:29 in the 5k. McKenizie was a 3-time regional qualifier in XC and was All-Region in track as well. She would like to be a nurse someday.
Haley Robinette- A distance runner from Westfall HS with PR's of 12:39 in the 3200 and 21:09 in the 5k. Haley was All-County and All-Conference and wants to major in Criminal Justice.
Joel Rodgers- A distance runner from Springfield Shawnee HS in Ohio with PR's of 10:01 in the 3200 and 16:29 for the 5k. Joel was conference champion in the 3200 and a 4-time state qualifier in XC. He will major in Criminal Justice.
Lauryn Rutan- A distance runner from Troy HS in Ohio with an XC PR of 21:15 for 5k. Lauryn was a 4-year scholar-athlete award recipient, her team was district champions 4 years in a row and was State runner-up. She will major in Psychology and focus on Social Work.
Rachel Sargent – A sprinter from Ohio Valley Christian School while living in Point Pleasant, WV with PR's of 13.1 for the 100m dash, 26.6 for the 200m, 60.0 for the 400m dash. Rachel was team captain and athlete of year for her school for 3 years. She will major in Psychology.
Allen Sherrick- A distance runner from Lancaster HS in Ohio with PR's of 4:50 in the 1600 and 16:58 for 5k and was XC regional qualifier. Allen will major in Business at Ohio Christian University.
Shelby Spencer- A distance runner from Circleville HS in OH with a 6:59 1600m time. She will major in
Olivia Vance- A hurdler from Westfall HS with PR's of 47.6 in the 300mH and 64.5 in the 400m dash. Olivia was conference champion in 3 events and is part of the school record holding 4x100 relay. She will major in criminal justice.
Justin Voshell- A rookie thrower from South Carolina.
