CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Facing a tough NCCAA institution in Bob Jones University on Friday evening, the Lady Trailblazers hoped to even their record at .500 with a quality performance against the Bruins. Coming into the evening with a record of 1-2, OCU aimed to continually improve their approach with the regular season approaching quickly.
The game would start off in favor of the Bruins, as Mikayla Rajcan would find the net at the 17 minute mark to make the score 1-0 in favor of Bob Jones. The Lady Trailblazers would respond, however, as Freshman Joy Pluta would make an excellent effort to even the score at 1-1 headed into the halftime break. After halftime, OCU would come out motivated and on fire, piling up four goals in 27 minutes of play to extend their lead. Each goal would come from a different contributor, including Kendra White, Brooke Lezzote, Brooke Wilhite, and Emmily King. The Bruins would add on a second goal at the 56 minute mark, but would fail to stop OCU's frenzied scoring, leading to the 4-2 victory in favor of the Lady Trailblazers.
Both teams would finish the game with similar shot attempts, however a solid goalkeeping effort from Hannah Visintainer would prove to be a key difference in the victory. Rachel Lawwell would lead the team with a total of five shot attempts while Freshman Emmily King would finish the day with a goal and an assist. The win now places OCU at 2-2 with three games remaining on the non-conference schedule including matchups with Shawnee State University, Wilmington College, and Grace College.
"We loved getting goals from a lot of places today," said Head Coach Jake Warren. "I think we still can play better in most areas, but Bob Jones is a quality team and getting the win is huge for us moving forward."
