CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The Ohio Christian University Trailblazers soccer program hosted their 2017 home opener on Friday evening as they took on the Tigers from Georgetown College. The game would be OCU's first of the year, as nerves were at an all-time for the young group of men leading the squad.
From the beginning, Georgetown showed their offensive prowess, scoring two goals on great plays in the first half to make the halftime score 2-0. The two first half goals would belong to Nick Gregory and Logan Blankenship. Following halftime, the Trailblazers would attempt to adjust to the Tigers game plan, however their efforts would come up just short, Georgetown would add on two more goals in the second half to push the score to 4-0. Individually, Kaleb Blevins would come the closet of all the Trailblazers at finding the net, as he would finish the game with two shots and one shot on goal. Due to darkness, the game was finished early in order to protect the athletes from injury.
Following the loss, the Trailblazer will now prepare to face Bluffton University on September 20th at home. "All of the guys gave 100% tonight and did a good job of dealing with adversity," said Head Coach Josh Murton. "We also saw three freshman step up and play very well tonight. It is a process and we are early in that process, so I am confident in these guys to continue to improve."
