Bio

Jamey Batten was named the head coach of OCU women's basketball in 2014.

After leading a team with nine freshmen to a 12-12 finish during the 2014-15 season, Batten would be at the helm to guide the Blazers into their first season as an NAIA member in 2015-16.

Ohio Christian went 22-11 in their second season within the NAIA in 2016-17, finishing in the top ten of the NCCAA. The season also included the team's first appearance in the NAIA Top 25 National Poll.

Batten is no stranger to OCU basketball.  As senior assistant for OCU men's basketball, he helped lead the Trailblazers to a Final Four appearance in 2012 and back to back National Championships in 2013 and 2014.

From 2007-2011, Batten enjoyed a four year stint as the head women's basketball coach at NAIA affiliate, Cincinnati Christian University.  At Cincinnati Christian, Batten led the Golden Eagles to a 56-32 (.636) overall record while reaching the Elite 8 of the National Tournament, earning an NCCAA Division I Top 10 Ranking in 2010, and appearing in the NAIA Top 25 National Poll on three occassions in 2011. Batten left CCU in 2011 as the all-time career wins leader for women's basketball.

Batten, a longtime member of the OCU family, served previously at Ohio Christian from 2003-2007 as Athletic Director and Head Coach of the men's basketball team.  His 2006-07 team was ranked as high as 8th in the NCCAA Division II National Poll.  His 2007 recruiting class comprised of Dan Garnett, Mike Farrell, Tim Baker, Mike Baker, Sam Sisley, and Stefan Vasiloff ushered in a new era of success for OCU men's basketball.

Coach Batten was a student-athlete at Ohio Christian from 1997-2001 and was named Team Captain during his junior and senior seasons.  He was a member of the 1999-2000 team that earned an at-large bid to the NCCAA National Tournament.  Batten graduated in 2001 with his BA in teacher education and earned his state of Ohio teaching certification.

Upon graduation he took a position at CCA Prep as Head Coach and Athletic Director.   In his two years at CCA he led his team to a Conference Championship and State Runner-Up finish while also helping numerous student athletes get the opportunity to play in college.
